Yes, of course the game is inspired by SMB2! It began with a conversation between some us about how different SMB2 was (being Doki Doki Panic!) and how it never had a true sequel. We decided to make a game that paid homage to that, and to many other games we grew up playing. And thus was born Frogsheen!
Sorry, but I think the graphics are too similar to NES Super Mario Bros. 2. Here's an example. (The middle image has been photoshopped to Frogsheen's palette.)

yep! They are very similar; this level was very much designed as a tribute.
It's like the love child of Frogger and Mario.
So nostalgia! Much fun!
